What is Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)?
- It is a life-threatening autoimmune disease.
- The pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone essential to get energy from food.
- T1D cannot be prevented.
- T1D strikes both children and adults.
- Despite active research, T1D has no cure.
To raise funds to support cure based research for Type 1 Diabetes, to provide education about Type 1 Diabetes and to increase awareness of Type 1 Diabetes.
The primary goal of the Blair Type 1 Diabetes Foundation is to raise funds to support cure based research of this terrible disease. The funded research projects would focus mainly on two objectives:
- Finding ways to transplant new insulin producing cells into persons with Type 1 Diabetes.
- Creating devices to perform the duties of the malfunctioning cells.

- Announcing: Blair Type 1 Diabetes Foundation was selected as one of 10 nonprofit organizations to receive a donation in memory of Fred and Patricia Young. In their planning giving, they wished to help organizations that deal with youth disease and disabilities. As we all know, T1D can strike at any age, but they were impressed with the work we do and wanted to pay it forward. Their only request was that we use the funds to make a difference in the lives of children. I assured the family the money will be designated for T1D cure-based research and hopefully doctors and scientists will find a cure soon. We are truly blessed to have been selected and to be recognized as a foundation that truly lives its mission. In honor and in memory of Fred and Patricia - thank you for helping us #Take1Down!!
